Introduction to the classification and application of crossed roller bearings

06-28, 2022 / in News / by LYJL

The crossed roller bearing is very different from the common ball bearing in our life. Its internal structure is that the rollers are arranged at 90° perpendicular to each other. There are spacers or spacers between the rollers, which can withstand high Large radial load, axial load. According to its structure and materials used, it can be divided into different types of rolling bearings, and the uses of different types of crossed roller bearings are also different.

Classification by rolling element structure

Crossed Roller Bearings

1. Cross cylindrical roller bearings

The rolling elements of the crossed cylindrical roller bearing are cylindrical rollers, which are vertically arranged in the V-shaped raceway at 90 degrees to each other, and the rollers are separated by spacers. This structure can bear the loads of various aspects such as axial load, radial load and overturning load.

Application: Suitable for joint parts or rotating parts of industrial robots, rotating workbenches of machining centers, rotating parts of manipulators, precision rotating workbenches, measuring instruments and other occasions.

2. Cross tapered roller bearings

The crossed tapered roller bearing is a variant of the crossed cylindrical roller bearing. The tapered rollers are arranged laterally. Each roller is perpendicular to the adjacent rollers.

Uses: Cross tapered roller bearings are suitable for high-speed vertical lathes, high-precision workbenches, vertical boring machines, grinding machine spindles, etc.

Classification by inner and outer ring structure

According to the structure of inner and outer rings, crossed roller bearings can be divided into: integral inner ring, split outer ring type, integral outer ring, split inner ring type and integral inner and outer ring type.

Crossed Roller Bearings

Sort by material

1. Surface flame quenching or intermediate frequency quenching

The material is 5CrMnMo, 40CrMnMo, 50Mn or No. 65 steel, and the first two have better quenching performance. The material of the crossed roller slewing bearing is generally surface quenching, mainly with teeth on the inner diameter, teeth on the outer diameter and no teeth, and the mounting holes on the bearing are not uniform. Crossed roller slewing bearing is mainly composed of inner ring, outer ring, rollers placed in a single row crisscross, cage (or spacer block), sealing device and other parts. The cylindrical rollers of the crossed roller slewing bearing are distributed on the raceway. The aspect ratio of the cylindrical rollers is less than 1, and the rollers slip slightly during movement.

2. Full quenching

The material is GCr15SiMn, which is mainly used in machinery with less impact load. The bearing material used in all crossed roller bearings is fully quenched.

Uses: Especially suitable for applications requiring higher rigidity and high running accuracy, such as industrial robots, precision rotary tables, radar communications, direct drive motors, precision reducers, printing and dyeing machinery, optical equipment, aerospace, IC manufacturing machines, Industrial automation equipment, etc.

The above is a detailed introduction to the classification and use of crossed roller bearings. You can choose according to your own needs.
